This is Spirit.
Spirit is a beautiful female Doberman.
We rescued Spirit from a backyard breeder in Pennsylvania.
She and her siblings had been living outside on a front porch.
This was one of many litters of pups that were for sale, it was simply heartbreaking.
The pups were neglected.
Living outside through intense heat, rain, sleet, snow, wind, thunder and lightning.
When informed of the circumstances we drove to aid in rescue efforts.
Spirit was very scared.
We pulled Spirit to safety.
Spirit suffers from Pica.
Pica in dogs is a condition where the animal is compelled to ingest objects that are not food items.
Pica is a psychologically compulsive behavior issue for dogs, but it may also result from medical issues or poor nutrition.
Spirit needs to be watched carefully as she has and will swallow almost anything.
Spirit received much needed medical care and proper nutrition.
Since coming to Paws Give Me Purpose, Spirit has become the queen of the castle, leading our large pack of dogs.
Spirit has learned that humans can love.
We never gave up on Spirit.
Spirit never gave up on us.
Spirit has learned to love and trust humans.
