If you’re still looking for an easy gift to give dogs this holiday season you can’t go wrong with homemade dog treats!
Ingredients:
- 1 overripe banana
- large eggs
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons unrefined extra virgin coconut oil, liquified
- 1/2 teaspoon natural peppermint flavoring
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1 /2 + 1/4 cups oat flour
- 1/4 cup carob powder
Instructions:
- mash the banana
- add the eggs, coconut oil, honey, cinnamon, and baking powder
- mix until well combined
- stir in 1 1/2 cups of oat flour until a dough is formed
- divide dough into 2 batches
- add 1/4 cup carob powder to one portion and the 1/4 cup oat flour and peppermint flavoring to the other portion (both batches should form a stiff, non sticky dough)
- roll out each batch of dough to about 3/8 inch thick (roll it as rectangular as possible)
- stack the 2 rolled out batches on top of each other
- roll up tightly jelly roll style
- wrap rolled up dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight
- preheat oven to 350
- line baking sheet with parchment paper
- remove plastic wrap and cut up roll into 1/4″ slices place on baking sheet and bake for 13 – 17 minutes (oven times may vary)
- allow to cool before serving to your pups
