Imagine being alone and wandering the streets; neglected for a long time, not having much hope left and cowering in fear when touched.
We are appalled at the rate at which pets are abandoned due to irresponsible people. We’ve all heard these heartbreaking stories again and again, what is it going to take for people to realize that dogs are not disposable, they are living beings with feelings just like you and me.
Meet Minnie! This tiny, 3.6 pound, 13 year old girl was found on the streets of Baltimore. No one knows how long she was out there, and no one ever came looking for her. She was found emaciated, a skeleton with barely any hair, sores all over her body, covered in fleas, nuclear sclerosis of the eyes, has absolutely no teeth and suffers with a heart arrhythmia.
The shelter reached out to Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. after determining Minnie would do best to live her remaining life in Sanctuary. She is extremely afraid of people and has been so traumatized by someone in her lifetime that she feels she needs to hide when she goes to the potty. (sadly, our guess is she was having accidents at home and was getting yelled at or punished for them)
Minnie is now safe with us and has received emergency Veterinary care. Minnie is receiving the expert medical care she needs and deserves. She eats well, like she hasn’t seen food in a long time, has begun medications and supplements to help her tiny body heal.
A human being just like us did this to Minnie, and we are angry just thinking of her suffering. This is the sad reality of the world we live in; an innocent beautiful little senior dog neglected and then abandoned by those she thought loved her. It is no wonder she is so afraid.
Please pray for Minnie so she can live her life out to the fullest – she deserves this second chance to be happy, loved and cherished. Help us help Minnie heal her broken spirit.
