Homemade chicken jerky is a tasty healthy snack for your dog. Chicken is healthy, high in protein, low in fat and sodium. This recipe is the perfect snack for your furry family member! (and you can enjoy it too)
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon all natural smooth peanut butter
- 1/4 teaspoon low sodium soy sauce
Instructions:
- preheat oven to 170 degrees
- cut away any fat or bits of bone from the chicken breasts and pat dry
- mix peanut butter and soy sauce together creating a marinade
- stir and thin marinade with 1 tablespoon of water or less until marinade becomes a smooth paste
- coat the chicken with the marinade and place in the freezer for about 1 hour (freezing the chicken makes it easier to slice real thin)
- remove the chicken from the freezer, and cut as thin as possible (for chewier jerky slice the chicken with the grain)
- cover a baking sheet with parchment paper, and arrange the chicken slices in a single layer
- place in oven for 2 hours
Once your jerky is ready, allow to cool. You can cut the jerky into smaller bite size pieces, or leave as strips. Store in an airtight container for up to 30 days if it lasts that long.
