Welcome Autumn And Winter

Meet Autumn and Winter, our newest Sanctuary residents.

Rescued from a hoarding situation by the Humane Society of Washington County, these precious seniors deserved a second chance to live the lives they should have had all along.

The girls are a bit broken, both physically and emotionally. Autumn is a bit more fearful than Winter, nonetheless, we have made the commitment to help them and will never give up on them. With patience and understanding they are slowly coming around and learning to trust us.

They are enjoying warm homemade meals, snuggling in comfy beds, and spending their time observing the humans who are caring for them and their new surroundings.

Now we are turning to you, our wonderful supporters, for help – these girls need us!

PLEASE consider making a donation to help us with their care, we cannot do this without you!

Remembering Rosita

It is with the heaviest of hearts we share the news that our beloved Sanctuary resident, Rosita has gained her Angel wings. She passed peacefully in her sleep, lying right next to Sanctuary mom. We find peace knowing that she left this world with dignity knowing love and kindness and did not die alone in a shelter.

Surrendered to a shelter at the age of 15, this tiny senior was broken hearted and very afraid. Her world had been turned upside down and we simply could not turn down the urgent plea for Sanctuary.

Although she walked through our doors with grace, she had a mighty Chihuahua personality like no other – and that is what almost cost her her life.

We loved her beyond measure for who she was and never tried to change her. She would crinkle her nose like a bunny prior to any attempt at biting – but it was only when she didn’t approve of what you were doing. This cute little nose wiggle/crinkle and her adorable floppy ears, earned her the nickname Bunny. Bunny simply preferred things on her own terms – taking her medication, having her nails cut and her diaper changed were most definitely not something she enjoyed and we have the battle scars to prove it. Over time she became more tolerant, but still liked to complain.

Rosita lived her remaining golden years to the fullest and as the last living member of our original “mean girls” Chi group, she became the leader after Brownie’s passing. Now she is reunited with her original gang of friends; we can only imagine the chaos they are causing in their heavenly chapter.

She loved her friends both the two legged and four, and welcomed new Chi girls into the group with open paws. Her co conspirator in mischief was little Bitsy and they would chat away daily. They had a routine and even though Rosita has gained her wings, Bitsy still has these barking chats daily as if Rosita is still here. Perhaps, Bitsy, who is blind, feels Rosita’s presence.

Her favorite pastime was eating. Rosita loved food, and she was a connoisseur of all things chicken. Try and give her something else and the barking tantrum at the dish would begin. We always indulged her, after all she deserved it.

Every dog that walks through our doors is special, but there are some more so than others that take up just a bit more space in your heart and Rosita was one of them – while our hearts are crushed her spirit will forever live here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

Rosita, you will always live on in our hearts – we feel truly blessed that your beautiful spirit has touched our lives, our hearts and we were blessed to have known you.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Chloe’s Fospice Friends who awarded us a grant to help with Rosita’s care. Your generous grant covered her medications, homeopathic remedies, and supplements which helped keep her comfortable so she could enjoy her life to the fullest.

To all of our followers and supporters, thank you for caring and for being a support to us. We hope we have been able to give you a glimpse of what we do here for special souls like our Rosita, see the legacy she left behind and understand why the work we do here is so rewarding and so important.

Welcome Ella

A few days into the new year we received a plea for help from one of our shelter partners that was simply beyond comprehension.

A dog running loose in Merchantville, NJ was hit by two separate cars. By some miracle, she survived and was taken to the shelter where she waited for her family to come and find her; unfortunately, that never happened.

The shelter is no place for any dog to recover from such an experience and sadly as it turned out, her condition was worse than originally thought, and beyond the shelter’s ability to care for her. That is when they reached out to us for help.

We have taken precious Ella, aka shelter name Elenora under our wing and we will not let her down. Ella is now safe here with us at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary. She’s been through way too much, and she needed us.

Ella has a broken pelvis and a badly bruised bladder. While the bladder heals she needs to have her urine expressed. She is comfortable, taking 3 different kinds of medication, but she is afraid, and rightfully so – we understand both her physical and emotional pain and will do everything in our power to make things better for her.

Now we are turning to you, our wonderful supporters, for help. Paws Give Me Purpose relies on donations from people like you who are willing to spend their hard-earned money to help animals in dire need like Ella.

Ella needs our help! PLEASE consider making a donation to help us with her care, we cannot do this without you!
