Message From Pop-Tart

Hi everyone, it’s me, Pop-Tart, one of the senior Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary residents. I’m just stopping in to let you know how I’m doing.

My life has been a very difficult one, I actually lived out in the streets of Trenton, New Jersey. I was found in a dumpster, was very scared, dirty, starving and severely neglected. No one is really sure how I ended up in the trash, but I was very lucky Paws Give Me Purpose came to my rescue. Just imagine what would have happened to me if the trash truck had come to pick up that dumpster? Just too scary to even think about it.

Thanks to the enormous amount of TLC and expert medical care here at Paws Give Me Purpose, I stayed strong and fought my way back to health. They never gave up on me. I would love to say that I love all the people here at Paws Give Me Purpose, they are taking very good care of me.

No one is really sure what my life was like before I was found, but clearly I was unwanted, unloved, and tossed out like a piece of trash. Because of how I was treated, I have major fears and trust issues. I have been trying for a long time to like people, but I am just afraid they will hurt me and have bitten many times out of fear. Due to my difficulty adjusting to new people, it was decided living here in the Sanctuary was the best thing for me.

For the first time in my life I feel safe and loved. I do love other small dogs, and like to try to instigate trouble with the big ones, but the staff and volunteers here make sure I am far away from them.

I must have never known a human’s touch, human kindness, a human’s love — so people are just not to my liking.  My nickname here is “Grumpus”, I may not be very big but I am grumpy and I can get pretty nasty. I guess you could say my emotional scars run pretty deep. I just turned 12 years old, last week and enjoyed yummy homemade birthday snacks. Paws Give Me Purpose says they will never give up on me, and I will never give up on them.

Thanks to them I truly have everything I need to live a full happy life, but still need your prayers, love and support too. Please don’t forget me and all the other sanctuary pups here. We are nothing without all of YOU! I am alive today because of all of you! I have a place to live where I am safe, people love me and treat me with kindness even though I cause lots of booboos when I bite them and like to mark everything as mine.

Please help give Paws Give Me Purpose the ability to continue to give me and the rest of the Sanctuary pups the best life ever.

Help them continue their great work so they can help more pups just like me that need a special place to live out their days feeling safe and loved.

Love, Pop-Tart

Getting In The Trick Or Treat Spirit

We are enjoying the beautiful Fall weather here at Paws Give Me Purpose today with Angel, our tiniest Sanctuary resident. She is getting into the Halloween Spirit and wanted to show off her new little shirt.

Angel weighs about 4 pounds; this tiny 14 year old girl came to Paws Give Me Purpose after her owner decided to dump her at a high kill shelter with a request to euthanize because she was too old.

Angel is an amazing girl with a strong will to live, enjoys life to the fullest, and has a sassy attitude. All this beautiful soul needs now is your continued support.

You can read Angel’s complete story and become her sponsor to help care for her during her golden years here in Sanctuary.

Why Rescue

People continue to ask us the same question, why rescue – why put yourselves through the emotional roller coaster of working with abused, neglected and unwanted animals? That can only cause heartache.

Why don’t we just turn a blind eye? Helping a dog and seeing them blossom into a silly, loyal, wonderful companion, or just simply enjoying life here in Sanctuary is one of the most rewarding parts of canine rescue to us. The best feeling in the world is when that dog that spent 2 weeks in a corner afraid of people gets to the point of putting her head in your lap as if to say “thank you for saving me, I love you”.

Be the change you want to see in this world.

The future is bright for all the dogs we fight to protect thanks to you. The unwanted dogs here in Sanctuary have been given the gift of life because of you. Many of the difficult to adopt shelter and rescue dogs that have lingered for years have found forever homes because of you.

With you by our side, we can give these dogs, and many more, a fighting chance for many years to come. Our hearts are full and we know at the end of the day we make a difference in the lives that we are responsible for.

When you donate to Paws Give Me Purpose, you can save a dog’s life, you can even make a monthly pledge so you can save lives all year long.
