The First 72 Hours

Houston has been at Paws Give Me Purpose for about 72 hours and is slowly decompressing and learning the daily routine.

We have noticed he is very shy and fearful. He approaches with caution but is slowly warming up to those of us who are here full time.

Certain objects, quick movements and school busses passing by on our walk this morning caused some reactivity, but if calmly spoken to he will calm down.

Houston was sent to Paws Give Me Purpose by Yorkie911 Rescue, Inc with the hope that we can help evaluate, asses and work with him through his issues as well as determine his future adoptability. Should he not be a candidate for adoption, he will live out his life here in Sanctuary.

The original adopters returned him to the rescue citing anxiety and aggression toward the children and strangers coming to the home. It was simply too much for them to handle.

Houston has his own room here at Paws Give Me Purpose at the moment; when he feels overwhelmed, he will go to his own space to relax.

Once we feel Houston is ready we will slowly introduce him to new people and a couple other dogs in order to assess his status further.

Stay tuned for updates on this precious boy.

Making A Difference

ADOPTED!

After being rescued from Houston, Texas during Hurricane Harvey almost 2 years ago – Houston the dog has come to Paws Give Me Purpose.

Houston is around 25 pounds and is believed to be a Chihuahua Lab Mix. He is physically very fit, his vaccinations are up to date and he has been neutered.

We have been told that he’s a great dog – smart, loving, loyal, cuddly, house trained, and non-destructive.

Although his family loved him dearly, Houston struggles with anxiety due to his puppyhood trauma, and it was simply more than the family could handle.

His story touched our hearts so deeply, that we could not say no to helping this frightened little boy. But, we cannot do this without your support. Please help us help Houston, and stay tuned for more information on his journey.

Look At Me Now

Hi everyone, it’s me, Angel, one of the Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary residents, also the oldest.

I’m just stopping in to share a wonderful update. I went to that scary place today, the Veterinarians office. Even though I was scared, I was a very good girl. I laid down nicely on the examining table for the Ophthalmologist. She removed the last of my stitches, and ran a few tests on my eye.

The Ophthalmologist said I looked great! My eye is no longer swollen, is healing well, is producing a normal amount of tears, and the best news ever is… I CAN SEE!

Thank you Dr. Mas for performing the original surgery and saving my eye. Thank you Dr. Vygantas, for caring for my eye and helping it heal properly.

Thank you Paws Give Me Purpose for giving me the expert medical care I need, a chance to live, to love, and a place to spend my golden years.

Thank you to all of you, for your generous support. Without supporters like you, Paws Give Me Purpose would not be able to give pups like me a chance. Because of you, I am alive today.

I did overhear that just my current Vet bills are in excess of $3000, so I am a asking that you please open your hearts and help give Paws Give Me Purpose the ability to continue to give me and all the rest of the Sanctuary pups the care we need.
