Meet Alfredo

Imagine driving, you see a bag thrown out of a car in front of you onto the road. It takes a second, but you realize the bag is moving. As an animal lover, your heart sinks when you realize what’s just happened.

For our newest Sanctuary resident, this was his sad reality. He was tied up in a mesh laundry bag and thrown out of a car onto a busy highway. This precious senior soul was lucky someone noticed and brought him to the safety of a local shelter.

While his history is a mystery, we do know that Alfredo is blind, deaf, and exhibits evidence of extreme neglect. He is a walking skeleton with skin, was covered in fleas, bugs literally crawling out of his ears and skin.

We simply cannot wrap our heads around this cruel and inhumane action by the the individual who committed this abuse. And while we can only imagine his years of suffering prior to the escalation of being thrown out of a car, we promise Alfredo will NEVER suffer again.

Our promise to Alfredo is to provide him with a safe and loving environment for the rest of his life and we are committed to keeping this promise.

We ask that you please consider making a donation to help us with Alfredo’s care – we cannot do this without YOU!

If you are not in the position to donate, we ask that you PLEASE SHARE.

Cleo

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory – Dr. Seuss

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news that our beloved Cleo has gained her Angel wings.

She never made it into surgery yesterday, she left us right before. Perhaps it was to spare us from worry or maybe she was just ready to peacefully move on – but she has left a gaping hole.

Cleo lived only four days here in Sanctuary; for her it was a lifetime.

She jumped right in with all four paws and quickly became a member of the exclusive “mean girls” Chihuahua group. She loved being swaddled in a blanket in Sanctuary moms arms, enjoyed pup loaf and special bubble baths.

Cleo, we are beyond heartbroken that we could not give you more time to enjoy the life you deserved. We hope you know that even though your time with us was short, you were loved beyond measure and we would have given anything to take away your pain and lifetime of suffering.

Those final moments with Cleo, the kiss on her little head, speaking to her softly letting her know everything was going to be ok, and her tiny paw prints, will forever be embedded on our hearts.

Meet Cleo

We are truly at a loss for words…This urgent plea was not one we could turn away; the alternative would have been allowing her to die in pain, scared, confused and alone behind shelter walls.

Listen up people, medical neglect is a form of abuse! This precious girl has clearly been suffering for a long time and desperately needs medical care – we cannot not let her down.

Hospice is not about giving up; it’s about focusing on comfort and giving the best quality of life. Quality of life is very important to us here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

It may be too late, and it’s not at all enough, but in the end we know that we are doing the right thing. This precious senior’s life matters!

Cleo is now safe at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary. PLEASE donate to help us give Cleo the best chance to survive so she can have this second chance at life!!
