Letter From Paco

Hi everyone, it’s me, Paco, one of the Paws Give Me Purpose tiny Sanctuary residents. I’m just stopping in to let you know how I’m doing.
My life has been a very difficult one, I lived in a very dirty house, with many other Chihuahuas; we were severely neglected and mistreated. We barely had food and the house was covered in our own filth. My owner was a hoarder. My siblings and I were in very bad shape, but thankfully we were rescued.
Unfortunately, not all of my siblings were strong enough to survive, I was one of the only ones that made it.
Thanks to the enormous amount of TLC and expert medical care here at Paws Give Me Purpose, I stayed strong, and fought my way back to health. They never gave up on me.
I would love to say that I love all the people here at Paws Give Me Purpose, they are taking very good care of me. But I truly only like one human, my actual rescuer.
I have been trying for a long time to like other people, but I am just afraid they will hurt me.
I am slowly making new friends, but can be very untrusting, and have bitten many times out of fear. Due to my difficulty adjusting to new people and environments, it was decided living here in the Sanctuary was the best thing for me.
For the first time in my life I feel safe and loved. I hope this feeling lasts forever.
I do love other small dogs, I guess because I grew up with so many siblings, but, I never knew a human touch, a human kindness, a humans love, so people are just not to my liking.
I LOVE the homemade meals and treats I get to eat daily; but most of all I love sharing a blueberry muffin with my humans. They are delicious! What dog could resist?
Paws Give Me Purpose says they will never give up on me, and I will never give up on them.
Thanks to them I truly have everything I need to live a full happy life, but still need your prayers, love and support too. Please don’t forget me and all the other sanctuary pups here. We are nothing without all of YOU!
Because of you, I am alive today, because of you I have a home here and people who love me.
Please help give Paws Give Me Purpose the ability to continue to give me and the rest of the Sanctuary pups the best life ever.
Help them continue their great work so they can help more pups just like me that need a special place to live out their days feeling safe and loved.
Love, Paco

Labor Of Love: Salute To Dogs

Labor Day became an official holiday in 1885, when the first movements to legalize the holiday were put into motion. Since it remains unknown who exactly came up with the idea for Labor Day, it’s fair game to guess that perhaps a dog helped to inspire the idea; after all, dogs are incredibly hard-working, and happy while doing it.

You might be wondering, what sorts of jobs do dogs really have? Dogs can have all sorts of jobs, you never know, one day a working dog might help you.

Police use K-9 dogs to help catch criminals and keep the public safe, hospitals hire dogs as therapy workers, and dogs help farmers herd livestock. Search and rescue dogs save lives all of the time, as well as thousands of dogs working alongside the military.

Those that have a dog or two working alongside them don’t know what they would do without them, after all no human has the same capabilities as a dog. Do you know anyone that walks on two legs and can smell a bomb? I sure don’t!

Dogs all over the world work all kinds of jobs, and don’t do it for money but because they are our true friends. Dogs are incredibly loyal and caring, just give them food, water, shelter, and a few kisses and they are happy to be your best friend and enjoy doing whatever you ask.

Even if your dog lives a pampered life as the family pet, they are still working hard. It’s a proven fact that dog owners live longer than non-dog owners.

So, while paying tribute to all of the working people this Labor Day, don’t forget to pay tribute to all of the service dogs out there too. They work hard everyday to keep the world safe and full of smiles. Don’t forget to thank your own canine either, after all they work hard to keep you healthy and happy everyday of the year.

Letter From Angel

Hi everyone, it’s me, Angel!
I’m just popping in to let you know how I’m doing.
What do you think, am I looking better?
I love all the people here at Paws Give Me Purpose.
They are taking very good care of me.
I am slowly making new doggie friends.
I have finished taking all my medications, but the people here have me take supplements every day to help keep me strong and healthy. I take them every day, even though some of them taste yucky.
My pneumonia is all gone now so I can enjoy time playing with the other tiny Sanctuary residents.
I pretty much love everyone here, but there is one other Chihuahua that doesn’t seem to approve. I need to try and win her over; do you think it’s possible?
I’m still very fragile and not very active, but when I am feeling up to it, I love to run around the grass and play.
I eat several small meals a day, and really LOVE all the homemade food and treats. I do however prefer to be hand fed, bowls are not my thing.
Being 14 years old, I have many senior issues along with issues stemming from my over-breeding and neglect; I am even to fragile to spay, so I will be living my life out here at Paws Give Me Purpose.
I am told that I am beautiful and loved every minute of the day.
And that everything will be ok.
For the first time in my life I am really starting to feel safe and loved. I hope this feeling lasts forever.
My body, soul and heart are healing.
Paws Give Me Purpose says they will never give up on me.
But I still need your prayers, love and support too.
Please don’t forget me and all the other sanctuary pups here.
We are nothing without all of YOU!
Love, Angel
