Houston’s Happy Tails

Today was a very emotional day; something wonderful happened here at Paws Give Me Purpose…

Hi everyone it’s me Houston. Today is a very special day for me… I adopted myself a Daddy!

I already love him and he loves me! I know already I am going to be spoiled for the rest of my life because my daddy is committed to me 1000%.

I want to thank Paws Give Me Purpose for stepping up to help me, for loving me, caring for me, and teaching me it’s ok to trust people. Thank you also for helping me over the last couple months to become more confident in myself, and getting me ready for my forever home.

As I move forward with my new beginning, my one wish is for all the doggies out there just like me to get a chance at their very own happily ever after too!

Thank you to all my followers and supporters for caring, sharing my story and helping to make my dream come true.

Stay tuned, Daddy and I will keep you updated through Paws Give Me Purpose about how wonderful I am doing.

Meet Cindy

We have often discussed our feelings about owner surrenders. Owner surrenders can be some of the most heartbroken dogs we see in the shelters. People don’t seem to understand or accept the reality for the surrendered pet, and what it does to them. And just when you think you have heard and seen it all when it comes to owner surrenders you are suddenly taken by surprise.

Meet Cindy! Surrendered to ACCT Philly by those she thought loved her. The shelter notes claim that the owner stated Cindy was panting heavily, having nightly seizures and they could no longer care for her.

Cindy is a 6 year old, 9 pound cutie who would have lost her life without the quick efforts of Yorkie911 Rescue to pull her to safety.

We cannot even describe our heartbreak when we first saw Cindy. Her fur was completely matted, she has sores all over her body, as well as lots of dirt and fleas. Her urine has traces of blood in it and she is clearly uncomfortable and breathing in distress. We have not observed any seizure activity at this time.

We honestly can understand that sometimes people have no choice but to surrender their beloved pet, but what we can’t wrap our head around is when we can visibly see that you obviously have been neglecting and mistreating your furry family member you claimed to love.

Cindy has no idea what it’s even like to be outside; she has started to enjoy the fresh air here at Paws Give Me Purpose, but just likes to sit or lay in the grass. She doesn’t know how to walk on a leash or potty in the grass; she only knows to use a wee wee pad indoors.

Today, Cindy is safe and has been properly groomed and treated for her skin issues. She will be heading to New York on Saturday to join all the other pups at Yorkie911 Rescue and once her medical needs are taken care of she will be available for adoption.

Until Cindy’s departure for New York we are showering her with lots of TLC, love and affection! She is enjoying homemade meals, treats, and it is very clear she loves to eat.

This girl is as SWEET AS PIE! and will not be waiting long trust us. If you’re interested in this sweetheart, get your application in quickly.

Remembering Mocha

Today we remember Mocha.

One year ago today, this beautiful soul came to the Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary. Not knowing when she was born, this was also the day we designated as her Birthday – the start of her new life.

For those of you not familiar with her story, Mocha came from a horrible past of abuse and neglect; she was a fighter and we fought along right beside her. We did everything we possibly could to help her.

Mocha was a very fragile 6-year-old Chihuahua mix who was seized by Animal Control during a drug raid and removed from the home. She was brought to the BARCS Animal Shelter in Maryland. She had been starved, was extremely underweight; she was basically a walking skeleton, covered in fleas, sores all over her body, alopecia, dermatitis, and extremely overgrown nails.

Worst of all was the damage caused by the toxic air she had been breathing her entire life. Mocha had difficulty breathing and was diagnosed with severe lower airway disease and her lungs were incredibly damaged. We knew going into this rescue that her condition was extremely grave and her life was at risk, but we never gave up on Mocha.

Paws Give Me Purpose did everything possible to help her and give her the best possible life we could. She was very loved, received lots of TLC and the expert medical care she needed and deserved. Mocha was a fighter and we had really hoped and prayed she would make a full recovery and would enjoy the life she really deserved, but sadly it was not meant to be.

On June 6, 2019, our hearts were shattered after discovering that Mocha had crossed to Rainbow Bridge peacefully in her sleep.

In the few months that she was here in our Sanctuary, she knew love and learned that not all humans are unkind.

Happy Birthday in Heaven beautiful girl! You will always have a special place in our hearts.

In Mocha’s memory, Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. would like to be able to rescue other precious souls just like her and give them a chance at life, but we cannot do this without you.

We ask that you please consider making a donation to our Sanctuary today in beautiful Mocha’s name, so other dogs just like her have a special place to live out their days feeling safe and loved.
