Need You More Than Ever

Blossom is really missing her time with the volunteers; she is hoping and praying that the COVID-19 pandemic ends soon and that everyone stays safe and healthy.

For Blossom and others like her, Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary is a place where they can take all the time they need to learn that not all humans are unkind, and what it’s truly like to be loved.

Our Sanctuary residents all require medical care, emotional support or behavior training (some may even need all three) This is when they need you the most.

Please, for those who are able, the Sanctuary residents in our care need your help! We are limited with funding, and the dogs that are already here in Sanctuary require necessary care and life-saving medications.

100% of all donations go directly towards the care of the Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary residents. Unlike other rescues, directors and board members never have and never will take a salary.

When you donate to Paws Give Me Purpose, you can save a dog’s life. When you give monthly, you can save lives all year long.

Addressing COVID-19

While we would normally be posting a Shelter or Rescue Spotlight today like most Wednesdays, we felt it was important to address the current COVID-19 pandemic and how it is affecting us as a life-saving organization.

Just like other animal welfare organizations around the world, Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. is indeed grappling with the implications of COVID-19 for staff, volunteers, and the animals in our care.

We are dealing with GREAT challenges here at the Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. Sanctuary and are doing our best to lessen the negative impacts of this rapidly spreading virus. The World Health Organization states that there is no evidence that companion animals have been infected or could spread COVID-19, but there truly is a lot for us to consider while navigating through this crisis. We have to keep in mind the safety and welfare of our staff, community and the dogs in our care.

Paws Give Me Purpose is committed to caring for our Sanctuary residents and keeping both the people and dogs in our facility healthy. Everyone working at or entering our Sanctuary will be required to follow CDC recommendations for general hygiene, such as washing hands frequently, disinfecting surfaces, and staying home if they are feeling symptomatic.

While we are not a public facility, we do have staff and volunteers that need to be with their own families during this time, leaving us extremely short handed. To all of the shelters, rescues and public that reach out to us for help, we ask that you please bear with us should you be trying to reach us, we will get back to you as soon as we are able – we promise.

We have been struggling with fundraising for some time now and realize that now fundraising will be even more impacted by the COVID-19 as people are concerned about their own personal finances during this critical time.

Asking for money isn’t easy for anyone to do, but we will not be able to care for the dogs living here or help any more dogs in need without your support.

Houston’s Forever Home

Houston is in his forever home slowly decompressing, learning about his new environment and routine.

We have been in touch with his new dad daily to assist in whatever capacity is needed to make this a smooth transition and so far both Houston and his dad are making fabulous progress!

They are learning about each other, Houston has begun to come out of his shell and is certainly testing the limits. Dad has learned to redirect nicely, and Houston is starting to listen and respond to correction quickly. His dad mentioned to us that the 2 months of rehabilitation and behavior modification that Houston had while here with us are showing and it is definitely helping him to make progress quickly.

Although we are a Sanctuary and don’t often adopt out dogs, Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. stands behind any adoption that does take place and will always be there for Houston and his dad in whatever capacity is needed.

We honestly could not have asked for a better dad for Houston. He really needed a home where he was the only dog and someone that would devote the time, have the patience and give him the one on one attention that he really needs. We are SO glad they found each other!
