Welcome Kermit

Yesterday our hearts broke as we met Juda in person for the first time. We have decided to rename him Kermit, as he begins his new life here in Sanctuary.

A little over 2 weeks ago, we stepped in to rescue a dog whose world was turned upside down. After spending years with the same family, he found himself alone and afraid dumped in a shelter for the second time in his life.

This sweet, loving boy was so badly neglected twice in his lifetime and this time he was going to die without even knowing humans can be kind – we could not allow that to happen. It honestly looks as if he has never received any form of care.

Our hearts are shattered after reading through his medical paperwork – things do not look good. To summarize and provide you all with full transparency about the situation, Kermit was severely matted with overgrown nails, and nuclear sclerosis in both eyes. He is in congestive heart failure, suffers from cushings disease, reflux, low blood platelets, rounded/enlarged liver, displaced intestines, Cholecystitis – inflammation of the gall bladder, and a lesion on his right kidney.

While his shelter medical charts look awful, he is a happy, go-lucky boy showing no symptoms. He is 12 years old, but you’d never know it. You’d never even know he isn’t 100% healthy either as nothing seems to bother him.

Kermit is now safe here at Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. and he deserves our commitment and expert medical care. We need to fight and give him the opportunity to live the best life possible in his remaining years. But, we cannot do this without YOU!

We will be having our own Veterinarian re-examine and run further tests on Kermit in order to help us determine what the best decisions for him will be and what is needed to give him the most comfortable life here in Sanctuary. It will be costly, but this precious soul is worth it and so deserving.

Please we ask that you open your hearts and make an urgent life-saving donation; Kermit’s life matters!

Kermit also needs many prayers and positive thoughts throughout the next few days. He is a strong boy and we are hopeful; he hasn’t come this far to give up and we will not give up on him!

Welcome Oscar

Yesterday, Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. welcomed Oscar into Sanctuary.

Oscar was rescued from ACCT Philly. According to his paperwork, he was surrendered by his family who said they loved him; this same family put in a request to euthanize due to being “too old, sick, and not wanting to play anymore”.

Oscar just turned 18 years old in June. He arrived at the shelter matted, with feces on his feet, long nails and out of breath.

The shelter Veterinarian has diagnosed Oscar with collapsing trachea which is causing coughing and gagging as well as a grade 1-2/6 systolic heart murmur.

His physical exam also revealed severe dental disease, nuclear sclerosis of the eyes and ulceration of one of his eyes. His owner reported upon surrender that he was having seizures, but so far none were observed.

Despite not feeling well and being very confused about where he is, Oscar is extremely loving, sweet, and enjoys attention.

He will see our Veterinarian as soon as possible and will receive the expert medical care he deserves.

We will never really know everything about Oscar’s life, but we do know that we will make sure his remaining years are filled with nothing but love and happiness.

We know that things are difficult for many of you out there, but we cannot do this without your support; so if you are in the position to do so we ask that you please make a life saving donation today! No amount is too small!

Help Hobbes Heal

Through love, compassion and caring, Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. creates a safe Sanctuary for dogs where they can take all the time they need to heal mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

We give these beautiful souls their best lives daily with unconditional love for the rest of their lives.

Blind and deaf, Hobbes has endured a life of extreme criminal neglect. Even though he’s in discomfort he continues to persevere and trust the new humans he meets daily.

Hobbes will need to undergo a second surgery for his extremely damaged gums, but he has yet to let his disabilities spoil his good nature. He is extremely sweet and is definitely much happier in Sanctuary with us!
