Chihuahuas are known to be comical, entertaining, expressive, and loyal little dogs. They love to burrow under blankets, dance on their hind legs, and wave their paws in the air.
Tito is a long hair Chihuahua who arrived at our Sanctuary back in January of 2021 from a shelter; he had been found stray, extremely emaciated, fearful, unsocialized, with severe guarding issues, and was a biter.
The options for him were euthanasia or find a rescue to take him, and due to his behavior no one stepped up for this tiny soul. That is when we received that special call.
Tito is absolutely brimming with personality – a quirky and eccentric vibe unmatched by any other here at our Sanctuary. Tito is a difficult dog, and even though he has learned to trust some of the people who care for him on a daily basis, he is still Tito and that will never change.
Where else can a senior dog like Tito just be himself and not have to worry about being tossed away due to his eccentricities? Where else can a dog like Tito feel safe and loved no matter his nasty little temperament? Even something as simple as a bath with the only handler he trusts has it’s good and bad moments – at his age, we don’t expect that it will ever change and that’s ok.
We believe a difficult dog gives back 10 times the amount of love and now that Tito is beginning to know what love is he is just beginning to give that back.
This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.
