Meet Brandy

Abandoned at the NYCACC by the only family she has ever known together with her bonded brother. Separated from her brother because he had rescue and adoption interests and she did not. Ripped away from the only thread left of her family, when her best friend left the shelter; the one she relied on to be her eyes – Brandy (shelter name Lulu) is completely blind and alone.

She sat alone behind shelter walls, broken, shut down, frightened and rated level 3 for her behavior.

Thanks to Remember Me Rescue NY, Brandy is now safe here with us at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary and will NEVER be let down again!

This precious soul needs our help to restore her faith in humanity, learn to navigate the world all over again and give her the stability she deserves. She needs complete vetting including a full blood panel so we can determine her medical needs in order to help give her the most comfortable life for the rest of her life.

We know the Holidays are here and everyone is busy shopping and preparing, but if you can spare anything, Brandy really needs YOUR help. No amount is ever too small, every penny counts.

Please consider making a donation toward Brandy’s care, becoming her Sponsor or becoming a Guardian Angel to our Sanctuary.

Remembering Prince

Although we knew when he arrived that his time with us would be very short, Prince’s life mattered.

We did everything we possibly could to help him and really thought he would have had more time with us, but his heart condition was just beyond repair due to neglect and could not keep up with his will to live.

Prince joined us here at the Sanctuary when Michele from Remember Me Rescue NY realized he needed a place to live out his remaining time with the kindness, compassion, love and the dignity he deserved.

Although at first he was very fearful of humans and would run the other way, he came out of his shell quickly and Sanctuary mom became his favorite person. He then became part of everyone’s heart with his lively personality. He preferred attention and socialization on his own terms, and we gave him just that.

He made fast friends with another dog with a very similar personality, Jimmy, and they would hang around each other and enjoy each other’s company. They were good for each other and their friendship was a dynamic that was very interesting to observe.

Prince was very happy here at PGMP, you could literally see his joy daily. He would get so excited about everything, he would dance and hop around with joy most especially when it came to food or treats. Not knowing his history, his medical condition spoke volumes and his actions made us realize that he likely didn’t have the best life before – after all he was found stray and ended up behind shelter walls at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

Despite facing health challenges, Prince’s happy spirit never wavered; he touched our lives briefly but profoundly. You will always live on in our hearts Prince– you were taken way too soon. We were blessed to have known you! You will forever be a part of us, live on in our hearts and we will never forget your cheesy smile.

The kind of work we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose never gets easier –  and our hearts are broken once again. Thank you to all of our followers and supporters for caring and for being a support to us during this difficult time.

Welcome Godiva

Set to be euthanized, we were alerted about a little girl in dire need of help. In response, our volunteer rushed to the shelter to save this precious soul and bring her to Sanctuary.

Godiva is a 13+ year old girl who was surrendered to the shelter in the most horrible medical condition, and we just could not turn down the urgent plea for help. We just hope we were in time to give this sweetheart the golden years she deserves.

Her medical neglect is beyond our comprehension. To us, allowing any animal to suffer this way and then dump them at a shelter is inexcusable!

Godiva is a walking skeleton, it is clear she was starved. She has mammary masses, severe dental disease and clearly has been seriously neglected for a long time.

Immediate supportive care has begun; she will continue to receive the expert care she needs and deserves for as long as she is with us. It goes without saying that we will do whatever is necessary to help Godiva feel her best and be the happiest and most comfortable she can be.

After giving 13 years of love, loyalty and devotion to her humans, Godiva deserves to be loved and treated with dignity, and not to be tossed away like yesterday’s newspaper – she has feelings just like you and me.

We ask that you please help us with Godiva’s supportive care by making a donation today – we cannot do this without YOU!
