Meet Dale

Once again, the Paws Give Me Purpose Team is picking up the pieces of an extremely broken hearted boy with a beyond shattered spirit – meet Dale.

This precious 15+ year old boy was seized by police from a horrible situation. The level of Dale’s medical neglect is unfathomable. Dale has feelings just like you and me and the treatment he has received up until now in our eyes is criminal.

Although we cannot change Dale’s past, we can assure all of you that the day he arrived here was the beginning of his healing and his journey to enjoy the life he should have had all along for as long as he is with us.

We need your help in order to give Dale everything he needs to feel better physically and restore his broken spirit. Together we can give him a second chance to relax his paws, snuggle into a warm cozy bed or just a quiet moment laying in the sun. He deserves to be happy, loved and cherished.

Please open your hearts and dig deep. With our medical bills climbing, and donations barely trickling in, we have had to ask ourselves how much longer we can keep giving the abused, neglected and the most unwanted souls a life; a chance to be loved – we truly cannot continue to do what we do without YOU!

Me And My Shadow

Little Foxy and her furry looking shadow are popping by on this marvelous Monday to say hello to all our wonderful followers and supporters.

For Foxy, Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary is home. A special place where she is learning that not all humans are unkind, and what it’s truly like to be loved.

Foxy says she loves her shadow, it reminds her that she still stands. This second chance at life would not have been possible without your generous support – she almost lost her life because many thought her life had no value.

It’s all because of you that we can give Foxy and every dog here in Sanctuary what they need to thrive and live their lives out to the fullest; the way it was meant to be. You give them all hope for a future full of love and happiness.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose. Thank you for giving us the ability to do what we do.

Meet Penny

Exactly two weeks ago today, we received an urgent and heart wrenching plea from one of our rescue partners, Remember Me Rescue NY. There was a dog at the Brooklyn ACC given only til the end of that day to leave the shelter or she would be euthanized due to her poor medical prognosis and the shelters inability to provide the nursing care she required. Without hesitation, we said yes and began scrambling to make it happen.

Imagine being abandoned out in the cold, alone, unable to move, emaciated, barely alive- completely paralyzed, and stage IV dental disease. Our new arrival also suffers from phthisis bulbi of the eye, a clinical condition representing end-stage ocular response to severe eye injury or disease damage, related to a variety of causes leading to scarring causing her blindness in that eye.

This is Penny, our new arrival. We are not going to lie, when Penny arrives we took one look at her and were terrified; would there be any quality of life? Quality of life is very important to us here at PGMP and although we were not sure what could be done to help Penny, we wanted to give her a fighting chance.

The evidence of cruelty and neglect were written all over this poor girl’s body which showed signs of starvation. In response, she was put on a feeding schedule along with supplemental nutrition to try to help make her stronger and slowly gain some weight.

While her blood work looks a bit scary, her X-rays and scans showed nothing to explain her paralysis leaving us questioning if it was a cognitive issue. After much deliberation and multiple conversations with our Veterinary teams we decided on a medication protocol and cold laser treatment and hoped for a miracle.

Miracles happen every day here at PGMP and Penny is a fighter with a strong will to live and she herself is a miracle! (see images and videos of her progress below) We hope that she can pull through and enjoy this second chance at life to the fullest.

Please help us give Penny this fighting chance – we cannot continue to do any of the work we do without YOU!
