Welcome Princess

Mere hours from euthanasia, we received an urgent heartbreaking plea from one of our shelter partners about yet another abandoned senior needing emergency placement.

We literally only had until 4:30 that day to save her life, and our dedicated volunteer Shelley rushed to the shelter and made it just in time.

In precious Flower’s memory, the Paws Give Me Purpose Team welcomes the beautiful Princess to Sanctuary.

Princess was surrendered to the shelter by the only family she has ever known as they were no longer able to care for her. After over 17 years of love, loyalty, and devotion to her humans, Princess deserves to be loved and treated with dignity.

She is completely blind in her left eye with limited vision in the other, has significant periodontal disease, mammary gland tumors, bilaterally symmetric alopecia, possible endocrine disease (Cushing’s) and has pendulous abdomen.

We need YOUR help in order to give this precious girl everything she needs, including the best Vet care possible; we never settle for substandard care. We just hope we were in time to give this sweetheart the golden years she deserves.

Please open your hearts, help us fight to give Princess the opportunity to live the best life possible in her remaining years. We cannot do this without YOU!

Flower

This is the face of a tiny dog that was abandoned in her carrier on the streets of NY in the most horrendous, neglectful condition.

This is the face of a dog that due to her medical condition was given less than 24 hours to leave the shelter or she would be euthanized.

This is the face of a dog who, other than her lost and found posting, was not shared on social media; no one knew she even existed. It was clear based on her condition that no one was coming to take her home.

This is the face of a dog whose heart wrenching plea moved us to tears, so we moved heaven and earth and took her under our wings. This is the face of a dog who we scrambled to save.

Together with our rescue partner Remember Me Rescue NY and our volunteer transporter Rachel we were able to bring her to Sanctuary – her life mattered and she deserved to know love, kindness, and dignity.

This is the face of a dog who was happy to be safe, happy to have a warm bed, blankets, good food to eat and urgent vet care.

This face belongs to Flower. Flower was 14 years old, her neglectful condition was criminal. She arrived on Tuesday and quickly gained her Angel wings on Friday in the arms of Sanctuary mom.

In the few days Flower spent here with us, she knew more love, compassion, kindness and care than she ever had in her entire life.

Flower left this world with a smile on her face and we hope her brief time here was enough to wash away her painful past and leave her only with good memories.

This is the face of a dog we will never forget – she left her tiny paw prints on our hearts, and her spirit will live within the walls of PGMP forever.

Meet Hendrix

Things have been extremely busy here at Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary over the last couple of weeks, but we did not want another day to pass by without introducing you all to precious Hendrix.

This almost blind, 10-year-old boy was abandoned on the streets of New York by some heartless individual. Once he arrived at the Brooklyn ACC, it was discovered that not only did he have a host of medical issues causing him physical pain, but he was also so fearful of people that it was too difficult for him to even receive a complete and proper evaluation.

It is very obvious to us that little Hendrix has had a very difficult life; not at all what he deserved. He was both extremely neglected and physically abused. His fear is palpable, he absolutely does not trust human beings. Quick hand or foot movements too close to him cause him to literally scream – the sound is blood curdling. Our minds sadly go to the thought that he has been hit and or kicked in his lifetime and who knows how long that type of mistreatment had gone on.

While we will most certainly make sure he continues to receive the best Vet care possible and medically manage his ailments, it is going to take time for him to open up to people and trust them.

Please help us help Hendrix. Help us help him heal, mentally, physically, spiritually, and learn to love and trust the human race.

Asking for money isn’t easy for anyone to do, but we need your help now more than ever!

Taking care of all of our Sanctuary residents is our top priority and with the difficult medical cases that have recently walked through our doors, your support is critical.
