Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. takes in dogs who were alone, injured, neglected, abused, and/or no longer wanted. They hope for life, for love, and someone to make everything alright; we take in a never ending stream of sad and fearful faces that look to us to make it all better.
At 18 years old, Oscar was surrendered by his family who claimed they loved him; however, this same family put in a request to euthanize him due to being “too old, sick, and not wanting to play anymore”.
Contrary to what his owners put on the surrender form, Oscar is very playful and loves other dogs. He is extremely loving, sweet, and enjoys attention.
Yesterday, Oscar enjoyed some soft ice cream with all his doggie friends here in Sanctuary and we wanted to share his happiness with all of you.
We will never really know everything about Oscar’s past life, but we do know that we will make sure his remaining years are filled with nothing but love and happiness.
Here at Paws Give Me Purpose, we believe that all dogs deserve a second chance at life.
Beautiful souls like Calvin depend on Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. to give them the home and love that they need and deserve. In return, they give us priceless gifts; the gift of love, friendship, and loyalty.
After living a life of criminal neglect and deprivation for so long, Calvin is learning what it is truly like to be loved. Today, Calvin enjoyed some soft ice cream probably for the first time in his life; and boy did he enjoy it!
No matter how long they are with us, every dog that walks through our doors is treated with excellent care, compassion and love. We are making sure that Calvin is truly enjoying his golden years to the fullest and is spoiled as he should be.
Sometimes you just can’t find the words when it comes to saying goodbye, and unfortunately right now is one of those times.
On Friday afternoon, our little Angel gained her wings; we have not had the strength until today to share our sadness. Angel climbed into the arms of her favorite person, laid down, and went to sleep forever. As she left us for the Rainbow Bridge, we could only guess that it was just her time to leave us.
Angel was our tiniest Sanctuary resident but she has left such a huge gaping hole in our hearts. We wonder how we will go on without her.
She was pure perfection in our eyes despite her medical issues; always full of life and bringing smiles to everyone’s faces daily. Angel brought out the best in all of us and truly inspired us to become even better human beings.
There was a special light in her eyes, a clear will to live and enjoy her golden years to the fullest. Angel was known as our little munchkin, she went everywhere and did everything with her people, never leaving their side – our Sanctuary sidekick. She was also known as the secretary because she used to sit by the computer every Friday as if to supervise the writing while we got Featured Dog Friday ready to publish.
Our little munchkin was very spoiled; after a life of mistreatment and neglect, she deserved to have whatever she wanted. She loved the homemade dog food/treats, most especially pizza and muffins and we always made sure to make her whatever she was in the mood for. If she didn’t want what you were serving she’d be sure to let you know and we’d have to make her something else.
Angel may have been the smallest in size, but her personality was larger than life. She had a wonderful effect on both people and other dogs alike. We could write forever about her because there are simply so many great memories to share, but it would literally fill books.
To say we are heartbroken would be an understatement. Nothing will ever be the same here at Paws Give Me Purpose without her as each dog that comes through our door brings us something special. There is a huge cloud of sadness over the Sanctuary as Angel’s doggie friends are also mourning her loss.
This morning in Angel’s memory, we served her favorite muffins to everyone here with breakfast. In the near future our board members will be discussing establishing something special in her memory as well.
You will always live on in our hearts Angel – you were taken too soon. We were blessed to have known and been able to love you with our whole hearts!
Thank you to each and everyone you for caring and for being a support to us during this time.
We will always remember our little munchkin as fifteen and fabulous!
