Welcome Ruby

This weekend has been a whirlwind of activity here at Paws Give Me Purpose, but we did not want to let it come to a close without introducing you all to our newest Sanctuary resident Ruby.

Ruby arrived Saturday morning and has spent the last couple of days getting herself acclimated to her new surroundings as she is almost completely blind.

Please join us in welcoming Ruby as she begins this new chapter in her life.

Stay tuned in the next couple of days for her complete story – it is beyond heartbreaking.

Just Be

Good afternoon from Lazarus; Laz is one of our special needs, senior Sanctuary residents.

Sometimes you need to squeak your toy and just be.

We rescued Lazarus from a backyard breeder who considered him a defective dog because he wasn’t the “ideal show dog”.

He was unwanted, tossed away in a pen with those she considered “rejects”. Lazarus never knew a human touch, love, kindness, or even how to just be a dog.

To us, Lazarus is perfectly imperfect, and will live out his days here in Sanctuary feeling safe and loved.

This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose.

Age Is Just A Number

Sanctuary can be defined as a place of peace, refuge or safety, a place where people/animals can live and be protected. This is what we do here at Paws Give Me Purpose; we treat every dog that comes through our doors with excellent care, compassion and love. When our dogs play in the play yard, you can see them finally let go and feel free for perhaps the first time in their lives.

When a 21-year-old dog comes to Sanctuary after living a life of criminal neglect and deprivation for so long watching him play like a puppy makes all our struggles worth it. Calvin is learning what it is truly like to be loved, and that humans can be kind.

We brought Calvin and his brother Hobbes to Paws Give Me Purpose Sanctuary because no one else stepped up to help them during their time of need. Sadly, dogs their age and condition have little opportunities, but we believed they deserved a second chance to have the life they should have had all along.

Our promise to these beautiful souls is to provide a safe and loving environment for the rest of their lives. We are making sure that Calvin is truly enjoying his golden years to the fullest and is spoiled as he should be.
