Welcome Layla

We are sadly seeing a horrendous increase in abandonment of senior and special needs dogs, and it is simply beyond our comprehension. We do not have the funds to keep bringing the most unwanted into Sanctuary and have had to say no to many in need; however, when we received a desperate plea from one of our shelter partners this morning, just looking at this precious girl’s condition it was clear she needs us. Our volunteer immediately rushed to the shelter – Layla’s life matters!

Layla is estimated to be 14+ years of age. She is blind, with severe periodontal disease, a heart murmur, a tumor, the list sadly goes on and on.

Layla deserves love, dignity, respect, and we are going to make sure she receives everything she needs and deserves including the best medical care – we will not settle for anything less.

Please help us fight to give her the opportunity to live the best life possible for no matter how long she is with us.

It may be too late, and it’s not at all enough, but in the end we know that we are doing right by Layla.

With donations and an all time low, we are truly just scraping by and honestly are not sure how much longer we can do this – we need YOUR help now more than ever!

Extra Helping Hands

Pictured here are some of our Sanctuary residents enjoying playgroup with one of our very committed volunteers.

Although our staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, extra helping hands and hearts are necessary for the important work in which we are involved.

We could never do what we do without the help of our wonderful volunteers!

For all our Sanctuary residents, it’s the simple things in life that are the greatest things. They are absolutely much better than we are when it comes to making the most out of life, and their love, loyalty and gratitude is simply immeasurable.

Welcome Jasmine

Found stray, dragging herself in the streets, her condition was just beyond our comprehension. Paralyzed with fear she waited behind shelter walls but no one came for her; that’s when we received the urgent call.

You could see the pain and sadness in her eyes, she was emaciated, with severe muscle wasting, in pain from the sores all over her legs, rear end and feet because she could not use her back legs, and could not understand why she was time stamped by the shelter – did her life not matter?

Jasmine matters to us and we of course said yes when we saw her face pleading for a second chance. She officially arrived at our Sanctuary at the beginning of last month, and we have been very busy working on healing her broken body and soul.

X-rays show lesions on Jasmine’s spine; it is possible she is paralyzed from an old injury and or was bred while she was paralyzed. She is inncontinent and her kidney values aren’t great. Sadly, it does not look like she will ever regain use of her back legs but that does not stop her from living a full life – her resilience is amazing!

In just one month of much needed medical care, proper nutrition and unconditional love, she is healing and she is happy. Miracles happen every day here at Paws Give Me Purpose, and Jasmine’s smile is in itself a wonderful miracle to us.

To those humans out there who used her for breeding, neglected her and then threw her out into the streets to fend for herself – we truly hope karma exists.

And while we are angry with those who committed what we consider to be criminal, our focus is on giving Jasmine her best life daily unconditionally for the rest of her life.

We know how many are struggling, and we hate asking for money, but we really need YOUR help now more than ever. With donations at an all time low our medical funds have been depleted. We ask that you please dig deep down in your hearts and those that are able their wallets – no amount is too small.
